Louisburg Kansas Cider Mill and Corn Maze
Neighborhood: Louisburg

Ever since I moved to Missouri, all I heard about was the Louisburg Cider Mill. So last year, I went and took my daughter and grandbaby. We enjoyed the shopping and the fresh made donuts and cider!

But there is more to the Louisburg Cider Mill than the cider and donuts, there is the Corn Maze. This is a huge attraction that takes place every year, for more than a month. The corn maze is 10 acres of corn that has a maze cut into it. This maze takes you in circles, but never crosses over itself. To look at this from above, someone would probably think it was a crop circle, but it's a haunted house with a moon and a bat in front of the moon. Eventually you will hit the end of the maze. To go through the maze, there is a $7 charge for anyone 6 and older, $6 for 3 to 5 years old, and children two and under are free.

Other events include the Hay Ride, Milo Labyrinth, pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkins, giant Hay Romp, a camp fire in the evenings if the weather permits, farm animals, and much more. They have a great gift shop where you can buy lots of different items and gifts, fresh made donuts and cider, or the mix to make your own, home made apple butter, apple sauce and many more items such as honey and corn bread mix.

They have events still going on this coming weekend, with a costume contest on the 31st, with the corn maze in the dark with ghosts and goblins! The first and second of November, they will also be holding the usual weekend festivities, including the corn maze.

Packages that they offer is as follows. L'il Pumpkin Package for $6, includes the Corn Maze and a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick their pumpkin. The Farm Package priced at $6 also, includes the Hay Maze, farm animals, children's activities, and pick your own pumpkin. The Farm and Mill Package for $8 includes Hay Ride, Hay Romp, corn bins, Milo Labyrinth, farm animal viewing, small pumpkin, and a tour of the cider mill complete with cider and donut.

Many items available at the gift shop include items featuring The Lost Trail, such as mugs, t-shirts and soda. There is also a large assortment of gift baskets to buy featuring many items with the Cider Mill and The Lost Trail on them. Many kinds of mixes for pancakes, donuts and there are many types of syrups also available. With such a wide selection, you can do much of your holiday shopping right there.

Directions to the Louisburg Cider Mill can be found on their website, www.louisburgcidermill.com. The Cider Mill is easily found just west of highway 69, just outside of Louisburg. This is only about 20 minutes outside of the metro Kansas City area.

My suggestion for anyone visiting the Cider Mill is to try the Lost Trail Sarsaparilla and have a fresh warm donut to go with it. The sarsaparilla and the bottle as well as the 4 pack carrier, was designed with the expedition of Lewis and Clark in mind. Read about the Lost Trail on their website.
