Each and every hill station in India has invariably some unique visiting points that have their own special natural beauty. I had an opportunity recently to visit Mount Abu in the State of Rajasthan in India during my trip to India last year. There are many famous and popular site seeing spots at Mount Abu. However, there are many virgin site seeing places, which are not so popular and well known, yet attracts thousands of tourists due to their unique virgin beauty. One such place at Mount Abu is Honeymoon point. Most of the visitors to Mount Abu may not be familiar with this rare spot but, it has its own unique specialty and that is the reason why tourists like us pay visit to such rare spots in spite of their odd location.

Mount Abu is well connected by train, bus and air from all the major cities of Gujarat and Rajasthan like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Udaipur, Jaipur, and even Mumbai. However, the best option to reach Mount Abu is to travel by train from Mumbai or any cities of Gujarat State till the railway station of Aburoad. Then, travel by hired car, taxi, or the State transport buses up to Mount Abu. Aburoad railway station is only around 20 miles away from Mount Abu. There are number of hotels available at Mount Abu for the tourists in all the price range starting from Rs.200 ($4.0) per day to Rs.5000 ($100) per day for a nice double room. Honeymoon point at Mount Abu can be visited by walking or in hired car or taxi. However, the best way is to travel to this unique spot by walking. The travel by taxi or hired car would not be that enjoyable and pleasant. If you are reasonably fit and healthy and are in a position to walk around three to four miles at a stretch, you must take up this journey to Honeymoon point by feet. As the name suggests, Honeymoon point is situated away from the town centre of Mount Abu in the midst of the thick forest and tall Mountain peaks at a distance of three miles from the town center of Mount Abu. The tourists can start from their hotel at around 8am and reach Nakhi Lake and take left hand turn from the main entrance of the Mahatma Gandhi garden that is situated just at the Nakhi Lake. You will pass the famous temple of Raghunathji, the way to go up to Tod Rock, Gayatri Mata temple, and the famous ancient temple of Hanuman in the way. Please continue walking ahead and you will notice a left hand turn with a sign board of Honeymoon point and Ganesh temple. Follow this route that will take you away from the Nakhi Lake towards the famous and virgin beauty spot of Honeymoon point. You will soon walk through the thick and dense forest with the Arvalli Mountains range all around. About forty minutes of walk would bring you to Honeymoon point. This point is situated at the base of around five to six mountain summits presenting the most breathtaking view of the complete area to all the tourists.

The place is so quiet and peaceful that you are in a position to hear even the smallest sound in the area. The fresh and pure air will freshen up your lungs and flow of new spiritual energy would start flowing through your body and soul. There are few benches provided here to sit and view the wonders of nature. There is also an ancient Lord Shiva temple just above this Honeymoon point. This ancient temple is said to be around 3000 years old and have the most unique Lord Shiva Lingam, which is oval in shape and made of beautiful white marble. We relaxed for around an hour here at the temple and had a wonderful picnic lunch of sandwiches and Limca, which were brought by us from the town of Mount Abu. It may be noted that there are no hotels or restaurants near this Honeymoon point. So, the tourists need to carry their own supply of drinking water and the light snacks with them. We started our return journey at around 12 noon and reached to Nakhi Lake by around 2 pm. in the afternoon.

Our trip to Honeymoon point was the highpoint of our entire trip to Mount Abu. This pleasant walk of around six miles energized us with new fresh energy and spiritual power due to fresh, virgin, and untouched beauty of this spot at Mount Abu. I would strongly suggest all my AC friends and readers to visit this rare spot of Honeymoon point during their visit to Mount Abu in India in spite of it being slightly away from the town center.
