Visit to Nairobi - Safari Capital of the World

Wild life lovers from all over the world visit Nairobi in Kenya to enjoy the wild life and to stay in the forest hotels at various National Parks in Kenya. I was born Nairobi in Kenya, and moved to India after marriage. I was able to visit Nairobi recently with my entire family. We visited the Nairobi National Park, which is only 10 miles away from city of Nairobi. Nairobi is commonly known as the safari capital of the world. If you are staying in Nairobi and if you hear lion's roar at night while sleeping in your bed, you should not be surprised. There are twenty-three safari parks in Kenya. And each of them has their own specialties.

We reached Nairobi by air India flight from Mumbai. We had booked our stay at the most famous and unique Tree Top hotel at the Nairobi National Park. The tourists can view the wild animals by sitting in their rooms in such tree top hotels. Such tree top hotels are situated at the top of the thick and very large trees on some of their strong branches. This stay would give you a feel as if you have stationed yourself at the top of tree in wooden scaffolding for hunting of the wild animals. We were able to see a wild rhino from our hotel lobby moving freely below the hotel. Many tourists prefer such tree top hotels for their stay to experience the most unique and memorable experience of their life. However, such tourists would need to climb some rough steps to reach up to their room. Such hotels appear very old fashioned and having no luxurious facilities at all from outside. But when you enter inside the hotel, you are amazed to see the wonderful five star facilities of the hotel. Such hotels are slightly expensive in the range of around US$ 250 to US$ 350 per day for a nice deluxe suite, which can easily accommodate 4 persons. The guests in such hotels are warned not to get down on their own particularly during night time without the hotel guide services as there may be wild animals present in the hotel compound itself.

Nairobi National Park is spread in the area of 44 square miles. The entire area is full of thick lush green forest full of all wild animals like elephants, wild buffaloes, rhinos, lions, camels, monkeys, zebras, giraffe, and the bears. As soon as you leave the city limit of Nairobi, the National Park limit starts almost immediately. The travel agents in Nairobi can book your jungle accommodation along with the bus trip inside the park. The park ride starts at around 5 pm in the evening from your hotel and ends at around midnight. If you are lucky, you will be able to see lions, elephants, and other wild animals in their natural state. You must carry the camera/camcorder with you during this visit to Nairobi National Park. The hunting is strictly prohibited in this park. However, if somebody is fond of hunting, the permission is given by the park management in some selected blocks of the forest. We had stayed for three nights at this famous park and were able to enjoy it thoroughly. I would suggest you to make sure to carry the suitable cream/lotion to apply on your skin to protect from the wild ants and other insects. Nairobi is having the most beautiful weather, all throughout the year. Though, it is little moist as Nairobi is located near the sea. The tourists can also get an opportunity to peep in to the traditional life of some of the ancient tribes like Masai, Kikuyu, Bantu, Nilotic, Meru, and Nilohmitic. The people of these tribes still leave the traditional life of jungle.

There are around twenty four countries in Africa, but Kenya is the most beautiful country among them. That is why it attracts thousands of wild life lovers from all over the world.
