Patna is well connected by train, road and the air from all the major cities of India. I travelled to Patna by train from Delhi. This train journey in fully air conditioned Rajdhani Express takes around 14 hours to reach Patna from Delhi. It starts at around 7 pm in the evening from Delhi and reaches Patna at around 9 am in the morning. The evening dinner and the morning breakfast are served in the train as these are included in the rail fare.
There are many historical, ancient and holy site seeing places at Patna. The famous Patna museum is the most visited place by the tourists. This museum has the guns and cannons that were used in the First World War by England. The ancient religious books written by Lord Buddha are also stored here, which are around 2000 years old. Some of the archeological items found out from nearby area are also stored here at this museum. The next item to be visited at Patna is famous Golghar. This historical building was made by British captain John Garcin in the year 1786. This circular building was built to store the food grains during famish in the country. This building is 96 feet high and 15 feet wide. The view of Patna city and the holy River Ganges is really breathtaking from the top of this building.
The next item that each tourist must visit is the shore of holy River Ganges. There are small manually driven boats are available for boating. The boating in the river Ganges in early morning hours is really worth enjoying. The morning peace offers a divine energy to all the visitors here. There is a holy temple of Lord Shiva located at the bank of River Ganges. The Shershah Suri mosque, Pattandevi temple, stone mosque, and the Jalan museum are some of the other vital spots that the tourists love to visit. The town of Mithila, which is situated at the distance of around 13 miles from Patna, is really worth visiting for all Hindus. This town is famous in Ramayana as the birth place of Goddess Sita, wife of Lord Rama. This was the place where Lord Rama broke the bow of Lord Shiva and won the hand of Sita. The marriage of Lord Rama had taken place here before around 10000 years. There is an ancient Janki temple here in the town of Mithila, which is known as Darbhanga at present. The full life size statues of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita are placed here.
Patna is a big city and there are many famous hotels available for all types of tourists. Hotel Maurya- Patna is the best place to stay at Patna. This hotel provides five star facilities and the rates are around Rs.10000 ($225) per day for the double room, excluding all food and drinks. The other budget hotels like Hotel Ashoka, hotel Patliputra- Ashok, and Hotel Republic are also available for stay in case you do not want to spend more. The total stay of around four days may be sufficient to cover most of the site seeing places of Patna and nearby area. The tourists also love to visit town of Vaishali, which is around 24 miles away from Patna. Lord Buddha gave his last religious speech here. Lord Buddha also decided his last nirvana from this place only. That is why this small town of Vaishali has become most vital place of pilgrimage for Hindus.
The visitors really enjoy their visit to this holy and ancient city of Patna in India as it provides the unique, divine experience of peace, joy and happiness. I would suggest all my AC friends and readers to visit this holy city of Patna during their next visit to India.
