Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but Rhode Island has much to offer. Rhode Island is bordered by Massachusetts in the north and east, Connecticut on the west, and the Atlantic Ocean on the south. Even though Rhode Island is small it still has over 400 miles of beautiful coastline, a capitol which has great dinning and entertainment, as well as a summer destinations known around the world.
A must see place when you travel is to Newport, Rhode Island. Newport is a city by the sea. Newport is home to the International Tennis Hall Of Fame, and the beautiful Newport Mansions which you may take a tour of. Take a walk down Thames Street for some of the best dinning and shopping the state. Take a bike ride or trip in the car down wonderful Ocean Drive and have amazing picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean. Fort Adams State Park is a great place to visit a historic military fort.
Providence is the capitol of Rhode Island and has much to offer during the summer months. A must see is Waterfire Providence which lights up the Providence River downtown with 100 bonfires that burn right on the water. While taking in the beautiful sights of Waterfire music is piped into the city to create wonderful ambiance. Take walk on the East Side of Providence and see many historic homes, especially on Historic Benefit Street. Also on the East Side you will find prestigious Brown University one of the countries leading Ivy League Institutions.
If good food is what you are looking for, head over to Federal Hill for the some of the best Italian food in the country. Federal Hill is known for its Bakery's and Italian Restaurant. My pick is Mediterraneo for dinner and Pastiche for dessert.
One of the other major attractions of Rhode Island is Block Island. Block Island is located 13 miles of the coast of Rhode Island's mainland and you arrive at the Island by way of the Block Island Ferry. You may take your car on the Ferry or just jump aboard and there are many options of transportation when you arrive in Block Island. Block Island is known for its beautiful beaches and its shopping. Rent a moped and feel the breeze as you drive along the water. Block Island is simply amazing.
Rhode Island has much more to offer than what I listed in this article. You have to come and experience it for yourself. Take a trip to Rhode Island and you will leave wondering when the next you can come back.
