Southern Hills Winery is Iowa's first Co-op. The winery was started in 2002 and uses locally grown grapes.
The Wine
Southern Hills Winery offers eight great wines: You're Making me Blush, Iowa Edelweiss, Iowa LaCrosse, Kick and a Pat, Blanket on a Hill, Seyval Uptown Saturday Night, Paint the Town Red and Outback Zac.
With great, catchy names and great tasting wine, Southern Hills Winery knows how to charm your taste buds.
One of my favorite Southern Hills Wines is Paint the Town Red. Paint the Town Red is a full-flavored wine. Your senses will awaken to rich plum flavor, and you will find it hard to stop with just one glass. Taking home a bottle or two of this wine is necessary!
Blanket on a Hill is perfectly named. This wine is a great one to take on a picnic. Blanket on a Hill is a dryer white wine that allows you to easily sip the afternoon away. Pair this wine with some apples and enjoy the wines fruity undertones.
Outback Zac has a great full cranberry taste without the tartness. There is a peppery kick to this wine that you feel in your toes. Give this one a taste, because it is definitely worth the experience.
Plan a Tour - Plan a Wedding
You can see live entertainment, go on a free tour, or have an afternoon of free wine tasting at Southern Hills Winery. There is also a conference room available.
This is an ideal place for a birthday party, conference or a wedding. The winery can hold up to 140 guests. They are also available to help with catering and entertainment ideas if you need assistance.
