Woodward Cave is just a stones throw away from Penn's Cave, a bit further East on Route 45 in central Pennsylvania. The Woodward Cave is also known as "The Big One" for its large space to explore; it also contains five large rooms. A tour through Woodward Cave" will leave you in awe at the amazing array of rock formations and unusual sights. In the cave tour you'll see The Tower of Babel a 14 foot tall stalagmite; it resembles a huge icicle. In The Dragon's Den Room you'll see the very unusual helictites which are stalactites which curve in unusual shapes. The Hanging Forest has the cave's largest collection of stalactites along with flow stone, and ribbon formations. The Hall of Statues is the largest room measuring 200 feet long; this where you'll find The Tower of Babel. The Ballroom is a large room which is actually used for square dances and banquets. The Upper Room is the last room you'll see on the tour; it's noteworthy for its 60 foot ceiling. Also in Woodward Cave is The Wedding Chapel which is a room where an altar is set up on a limestone altar for actual weddings.

Woodward Cave also has an experienced staff who know a bit about science. The staff at Woodward Cave have put together a study of evolution in which they pictorially show how a human hand could evolve, step-by-step, into a bat's wing. There also is a study of fossils in which students make a trilobite out of clay and then explore the cave for trilobites in the rock. You can find a lot of fossils at Woodward Cave.

On site at Woodward Cave there is a campground, a gift shop, a snack stand, a recreation hall, and a gift shop. There is also a dumping station for your trash and private showers for the campers.

Woodward Cave invites groups to tour the cave. Cave tours last 50 minute and are not strenuous. You need a pair of non-slip shoes and a light jacket since the cave is 48 degrees year round. There is a gravel path throughout the cave.
