Visit Station Square in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Ryanick Paige
What was once a meeting area for family and friends as people came and left on the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad is now a meeting area for dining, shopping, and nightlife. Station Square, which was opened in 1879, has been transformed and enlarged to become the retail home for many shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. This 52-acre complex takes up 1.2 miles of riverfront property and offers some unique dining experiences, shopping at fine boutiques, and places to dance the night away. It is hard to believe that Station Square was once a train station.

With nearly 20 dining choices available, you will not go hunger at Station Square. With places as simple Subway to the splendor of The Grand Concourse, you can feed hunger with meatball subs or an abundance of seafood. Other dining choices include The Hard Rock Café, Hooters, Kiku Japanese Restaurant, and the Buckhead Saloon just to name a few. With this variety of choices, there is something to please everyone's palate.

After a day of shopping in the boutiques found at Station Square, there are many of attractions to attention peaked. Enjoy a fabulous ride in a horse drawn carriage around the streets of Station Square, along the Ohio River, or a reservation only ride through the streets of downtown Pittsburgh. Perhaps a cruise down the river is more your speed. You can enjoy a night of music and dancing on one of the Gateway Clipper Fleet while seeing the city from a whole new viewpoint.

You can enjoy a water show in the heart of Station Square. Located at Bessemer Court the Waltzing Waters® Liquid Fireworks® Show flows 40 feet into the air. Water shows start every 20 minutes from the end of April until late November. Take a ride on one of historic inclines that connect the valley with Mount Washington. The Monongahela Incline and Duquesne Incline will take you to the top of the world to see the most fantastic views of the city skyline and Point State Park.

To take you deep into the night, one of Station Squares premiere nightclubs will keep you dancing and partying until last call. Enjoy visions of the future at the Matrix, the Asian atmosphere of the newly opened Zen, or ride off into the night with a cowboy or cowgirl at Saddle Ridge. These are just a few of your choices to keep you dancing shoes moving into the wee hours of the morning at Station Square.

From the time the doors open until last call, there are plenty of things to enjoy at Station Square.
