Visit the Superb Hill Station of Spity in Himachal Pradesh of India

The time has now come in India to visit the non conventional hill stations rather than standard conventional hill stations in view of great rush, crowd of people, and the pollution due to the modern amenities in standard hill stations. Spity, situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh is one such hill station that can give you the taste and feel of the virgin Himalayan beauty.

Spity is situated at the height of around 12500 feet from the main sea level. The entire region is very cold. There is less rain and more snowfall here all through the year, particularly during winter. This hill station looks totally different due to the high mountains range, slopes filled with the most beautiful farms, and the lush, thick, and the green forests. You can reach Spity from Manali by road, in hired car, taxi, or the bus. Spity is around 80 miles from Manali on National highway 22. The Buddha religion is the main religion here. That is why we observe many gompas and the maths here. The tourists can visit this hill station during short season of summer from May to September. The remaining period of the year is not suitable for visit in view of severe cold and the snowfall. There are couples of hotels here to stay. Hotel Himachal International and Hotel Green are the two main places to stay. These hotels provide two star facilities at the rate of around Rs.2400 ($60) per day for a double room. You will have to take your meals in these hotels only as there are no good restaurants available in Spity. These restaurants serve local, native food in Punjabi style and are generally very spicy. Make sure to specify your requirements while ordering your meals.

There are many site seeing places at Spity. Sumdo is the entry point to Spity. It has marvelous view of the Himalayan Mountains. The silence and the beauty of Sumdo are out of the world and you will feel as if you have reached some other world. Tabo is the next place to be visited at Spity. It is situated around 15 miles away from Spity. It is surrounded by the mountains all around, and is located at the left bank of River Spity. The Tabo gompa, located here is around 1000 years old and is considered just next to Tholing gompa of Tibet in importance. This gompa is full of old, and ancient wall paintings. There is a large, precious collection of ancient hand written books here. Kanzam ghat is the next place to be visited. The way from Manali to Lahul passes through this ghat. The slope of this ghat is the most ideal place for snow sports. Kaza is situated deep inside the ghati forests. The ancient and historical gompa of Kyai is located here. This gompa was built in 14th century. This gompa is situated at the top of the mountain and its snow white appearance looks like a fort from the distance. The Pin valley National park is the next place that must not be missed. The wild animals of the cold region can be seen here at this park. The tents are available to stay for the night here to enjoy the wild beauty of the forests. Dhankar gompa is the next place of tourist's interest. This gompa is made up of large rocks. The beautiful engravings made on these rocks are really the most beautiful and rare of its kind. There are many vegetation here in the forest that cures the terminal diseases of lungs and heart very effectively. You can take help of native people to locate such plantation.

You may not find all the modern facilities here at Spity, but its beauty shall make the experience of your visit the most memorable in your life. Make sure to carry the bottled mineral water for drinking purpose. Also, please carry some dry fruits like cashews, grapes, and almonds with you. This will help you to maintain body energy level in severe cold weather. Do not try the local food varieties and the drinks as the same may not be safe for you and may result in sickness. You will need to walk long distances here among the mountains. So, make sure to carry good quality shoes, suitable for tracking.
