Los Angeles County Museum of Art
An amazing diversity of collections of art will be found at the LACMA, as it is called by its locals. Some of the permanent collections include their African Art, Ancient Near Eastern Art, Chinese Art, Egyptian Art, and Greek and Roman Arts. Thats just the beginning. Current exhibitions change, so be sure to keep up on the current events held there. The museum offers many programs made available to the general public, such as the Film Department, which celebrates the international arts of cinema with film series, independent and foreign films. Arts for NexGen is an 18 and under program designed to keep kids busy studying art, with artist-led workshops and special events on school holidays. Art classes for both children and adults are available to take, so if you think you may just be the next great painter or sculptor, heres a good place to start! Museum of Craft and Folk Art
An interesting museum if every you saw one. The Museum of Craft and Folk Art is located a t51 Yerba Buena Lane in San Fransisco, CA. The newest exhibition is entitled "The Evolution of the 'Ukulele:The Story of Hawaii's Jumping Flea". It provides a detailed look at the history, development, and the crafting of this instrument. some of the best ukuleles are on display, from both public and private collections. The museum also offers school programs, with workshops based on ancient history, folk arts, and more. Students learn about the differences in cultural, rituals, meals and more through the diverse programs offered to them.
Seattle's museum of Glass
Gaze out at Tacoma's beautiful waterfront as you take in the unique beauty of this museum. Watch as teams of artists create beautiful pieces from molten glass in the amphitheater. Check out over 50 works by artists internationally known, include local Seattle native Dale Chihuly. Stroll over his work of art, the amazing Chihuly Bridge of Glass. The outdoor plazas also contain many works of glass art, and be sure to stop in at the gift shop to take home a souvenir from this remarkable museum. Seattle's Museum of Glass is located in Tacoma, WA, at 1801 Dock Street.
