I don't know when you last checked, but Walt Disney World and its affiliated theme parks and attractions cost a fortune to attend these days. The last time I visited Orlando, Florida, any one amusement park was running about $35 each with a discount. That was almost four years ago. I cannot imagine how inflated the prices are now.
They are undoubtedly higher. And tack on the expense of food and drinks once inside the theme park plus a few nights' hotel stay for your family and there goes even more money out of your pocket. All of these Orlando Florida theme parks, Disney or non-Disney, have skyrocketed in price since they were originally built and opened for business.
And sure, they all have those multi-day or multi-park combo passes which can seem like you are getting more for your money. But in reality these are just promotional profit oriented bundle packages with fancy names that simply disguise themselves as miraculously discovered lucky bargains.
But Walt Disney World theme parks and attractions similar to it know they can get away with charging this much and will continue to pull it off because, well, it's Disney World! Walt Disney World and for some along the West Coast, California, Disney Land, has become a part of American childhood years tradition.
Most parents would agree that the savings they'd been for years striving to collect for a family vacation would not be better used anywhere but Orlando, Florida so their kid can be like every other American child and see Mickey Mouse before the age of five. You may even find many single adults who plan a special trip to Disney because they missed out in childhood and it is just one of those things our society has taught us we have to do.
You may not encounter dramatic sales bargains if you do decide to go to Disney World anytime from this day onward but I know that won't stop most of you so I wanted to share with you a promotion I came across offered from Disney World directly.
It just so happens that if you plan your Disney World or Disney Land in California trip strategically you may be able to take advantage of a free ticket promotional offer.
Free! Free, really free, is it a legit deal or a scam, you might be thinking. Yes indeed it is legitimate and again, this promotion is straight through Walt Disney World. There is what may pose as an unfortunate catch though for some:
This 100% free Disney World or Disney Land Resort theme park ticket opportunity is only good if you visit one of the eligible park your birthday to the exact date it occurs in 2009. But if this particular timing does fit decently into your Orlando Florida vacation planning requirements it is quite a good deal. Forty bucks per person can add up. With this deal at least you get one of them free.
So here's the scoop on the Free Admission to Disney World or Disney Land on your birthday promotion:
The free Disney admission ticket on your birthday promotion allows you or any of your children aged three and up free admission to one of Walt Disney World Resorts four theme major theme parks or to Disney Land in California if you prefer. If you happen to already have a multi-day pass that you wish to use on your birthday instead of the free admission ticket you can opt to obtain an alternative birthday gift from Disney which you can get from the Will Call Ticket Window, also the exact day of.
This promotion began September 18, 2009 and will run through December 31, 2009. All that is required to claim the free Disney ticket is a valid form of identification that includes your date of birth.
You can choose to just show up the day you wish to get your free birthday ticket if you wish. However, Disney does offer for your pre-planning convenience the opportunity to sign up ahead of time by registering yourself, your children (note: must be 18 to access site so parents can fill it out for kids) or other members of your family through the Free Disney Birthday Ticket Website page.
Again, advanced effort is not required to get your free birthday present from Disney World or Disney Land but since there are certain registration forms to fill out in order to get the ticket in hand , this option can certainly save you time.
For more details on the Free Disney Ticket on Your Birthday promotion, visit the Disney Vacation Planning Website. If you wish to register now (might as well) just click on the Sign up button above the FAQ list and it literally takes less than two minutes to fill out the form. It's pretty self explanatory, quick and easy and by registering with them the Disney people will even send you a confirmation and reminder email about the free ticket promotional offer two weeks prior to your day of birth.
Factor your birthday present into a Disney trip plan that is in the works or simply sign up in case you decide to take advantage of it when the time comes. Take note that the section on the form that asks for your vacation dates is optional and does not need to be filled out if you are thus far unaware of your exact dates to visit the Orlando Florida area.
That is pretty much all you need to know and you are good to go. Here, again, is the Free Disney Ticket Promotional Offer main webpage link for your reference.

Thanks Lori. I think Disney Land is like the pro bb and baseball and football games...priced so high that people can't afford to take the "kids" anymore. Thanks for the article.
