Angkor Wat Temple is the World Heritage

All travelers who take a Cambodia vacation will also visit Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat temple and the surrounding temples are best visited at sunrise time and in the early morning and late in the afternoon towards sunset. There are two reasons for this, the light makes a totally different atmosphere, and it is not so hot. Break up your day and avoid the heat of the hot sun. Your pass will be valid for as many visits as you wish to make - so wake up early, and see the sites of Agkor area before it turn hot. Then, from mid to the late morning morning, come back to your hotel or guest house in Siem Riep and relax in the heat of the day. Then, when the weather cools down, back to the temples for sunset.

Take your time - if you love to rent a bicycle (pedal or electric), this is one of the nicest ways to see the temples, and it gives you independence but if you are not used to riding in hot time it might be a bit hard.

Just about everybody in Siem Riep is a "guide". Moto Dup (motorbike taxis) will often tell you they are guides but just take you from point to point. Some guides from the guesthouses are really good - but don't be careless, many have no idea and make decision, and some just reel out of dates and figures. A best guide book of the temples and history of Angkor Wat temple, or a nice Cambodia holiday guide book will be very very helpful for historical background and maps. Then, your own intuition will be the best guide.

Assure that you drink much water. It could get so hot, and it is too easy to desiccate. Soft drinks can be bought everywhere around the temple grounds even if at a somewhat higher price than in the town. Be cautious of ice from the stalls near the temples.

If you wanna eat around this temple, you will find small eateries everywhere. The food is generally local. If you like western food, there are lots of restaurants near the main entrance to the Angkor Wat temple.

Take insect repellent if you visit in the evening.

It is crucial to wear a hat - if you don't have one, they are for sale everywhere.

Put on enough footwear and protect your feet. Flipflops can seem comfortable, but climbing around the temples may be unsmooth, sweaty, sharp and some places quite dusty. Cambodia travel might be tough on the feet!

If you are visiting for more than one day, you must have a photograph for a multi day pass. Take a passport photo with you BEFORE you get to the temples. There is a facility to take photos at the entrance, but there could be long queues.

Assure to take a lot of photos in Cambodia, then sharing them with friends in your country when you turn back is a really nice thing.
