One of the great things about Central Park Zoo is the low cost of admission. For New York City it is low cost entertainment. For adults it is only $10 for admission. Senior citizens get a discount, and their ticket price is only $7. Children ages 3 to 12 is $5 and children under 3 are free. The Tisch Children's Zoo is included, and so you get two zoos for the price of one.
Central Park Zoo is open daily. From April - October it is open daily from Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the weekends it is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. From November - March it is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is a wonderful place to go during the week and the weekend.
There are over 100 different kinds of animals to see. My favorite to see has always been the Polar Circle exhibit. I love seeing the polar bears swim around, and at this zoo you can really see them up close. You can see them out of the water. You can see them out of the water in their created habitat. I love seeing them like this because it is so easy to appreciate their true beauty.
My son appreciated the Rain Forest exhibit. He loved seeing the snakes the best. Plus, the frogs and lizards really fascinated him. It made him want to rush right on home to see what he could collect in his own backyard. I think almost every little boy would just adore this exhibit.
Another exhibit that was fun for the whole family was the Temperate Territory. I loved all the animals there. The California Sea Lions were fun to watch. Other animals that I really enjoyed at the zoo were the penguins and the Harbor Seals. They were so cute that I wanted to bring them home with me. We settled for buying stuffed animals at the gift shop to remember our fun trip.
I highly recommend this trip of seeing Central Park Zoo. It is a great learning experience of seeing all varieties of animals. Plus, as it is in Central Park the setting is just beautiful especially in busy New York City. It was nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle to enjoy some relaxing moments. So, if you are in New York City make sure to stop by the Central Park Zoo for a great time.
