A Popular Tourist and Business Destination, See What This City Has to Offer!

Colorado is often thought of as a beautiful state. The rocky mountains alone often draw crowds in for skiing, hiking, white water rafting, camping and more. The capital city of Denver is one that is definitely worth visiting for a variety of reasons.

Aside from hiking through the mountains, Denver also has exciting places to visit within the city. The U.S. Mint, located at 320 Colfax Ave is one place worth taking a tour of. The tours are free to the public, however, it is encouraged to make reservations early.

Other interesting buildings to visit in Denver include the gold-domed State Capitol or the Denver Art Museum. The State Capitol is built exactly one mile above sea level on Colfax Avenue and Lincoln Street. The Denver Art Museum is a titanium paneled structure designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. The museum is open until 10pm on weekdays, and it is absolutely free to the public.

Another place to stop in while you are in Denver is the Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Bureau offers walking tours and has beautiful exhibits. One tour includes a guide through the Art Museum which is right next to the Denver Public Library.

Denver also has 14.5 miles of river water which includes extensive pedestrian and bike trails. Bikes, kayaks and hiking gear are all available from Confluence Kayaks.

Larimer Square is also a fun place to stop while visiting Denver. It is a short walk west of 16th street and has some lovely night spots and restaurants. There are also several trendy coffee shops and The Market.

The Tattered Cover is also a must stop in Denver. The bookstore is an independent one with an extensive newsstand, floors of books and its very own cafe. This is a great place for those traveling on business to pass the time by enjoying a cup of coffee and settling in with a good book.

If you are fortunate enough to have a car with you, there are several sights to see within a short drive of the city.

A few blocks north of downtown you'll find Cherry Creek North. This is a great shopping destination with lots of quirky boutiques mixed in with designer stores. Cherry Creek North is the perfect place to find a fun gift for someone or that kitchen gadget you have been trying to find at Crate & Barrell. The mall is home to over 300 independent boutiques.

Also near to Denver is the Keystone Resort. The resort is approximately 75 miles west of the city, and a great place to stay while visiting Denver. The resort has golf and mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. The ski runs also stay open until 9pm.

Another refreshing place to visit near Denver is Red Rocks Park. It is only a thirty minute drive from the city and is an adventure-seekers ideal destination. The park offers live music and concerts on a regular basis.

Baseball fans will enjoy watching the Rockies play in Denver with ticket prices starting at $4.

For those who love the arts, Denver's Center for the Arts features outstanding performing arts. The Little Mermaid is currently playing as a Broadway musical. You Can't Take it With You will be starting mid September.
