Visiting Fall Fairs on Massachusetts' South Shore: Carver, Abington,Rehoboth
Great Places to Share Family Time Together
King Richard's Faire Carver, MA is known locally as a great place to grow cranberries and as the site of the annual presentation of King Richard's Faire. This is not your typical harvest fair with fresh produce and home made confections. King Richard's Faire is a rather eclectic collection of entertainment venues meant to bring hours of enjoyment to families throughout the autumn season. King Richard's Faire is open to the public on weekends from Sept 4 - October 24, 2010 with Monday hours on long weekends.
What may stand out about King Richard's Faire is that, true to its name, the fair celebrates a Renaissance world long gone by peopled by swordsman, nobles, craftsmen and country folk. King Richard's Faire brings those days to life with staged sword fights, jousting and feasting. The huge setting also accommodates nothing less than a Royal Zoo filled with some excellent tigers, lions, leopards and jaguars. This fair is alive with face painting, music, games, food and what I love best, ongoing entertainment. It's hard to be bored at King Richard's Faire. There is just so much to do, many families return year after year. This years prices at $15 per child and $26 for adults may seem a little stiff aside of your average country fair but once you enter the fair grounds you are likely to think that at this fall fair on Massachusetts South Shore, you were the one who got the good deal. If you get a little tired of the traditional craft/food fair, a day in Carver,MA at King Richard's is made for you.
3rd Annual Craft Fair to Benefit Hospice of the South Shore, Abington, MA Nothing wrong with coupling your desire to help a most worthwhile organization like Hospice of the South Shore with an interest in taking in an outstanding craft fair. Now in its third incarnation the benefit event promises lots to see and enjoy. In 2010 this Abington fair plans to present 45 tables loaded with all kinds of fine crafted and seasonal items. You may drop by on October 23, in search of that perfect Christmas ornament but also come across some fine gift items, baked goods, a chance for your kids to indulge in some face painting and maybe even turn up a winner of the ongoing 50/50 raffle.
If you live on or near the South Shore and are looking for a wonderful place to browse and support an important service group, you may find your answer at this benefit fair where admission is free.
Folk Art, Antique and Artisan Show, Rehoboth, MA In the rather out of the way community of Rehoboth, MA on Friday, Nov. 5 from 4-9 and Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9-4 folks will be gathering to see review this years offerings of folk art, antiques and artisan creations. Again, not your harvest festival with fruit and vegetables but something that stirs a whole different set of interests.
There is no admission charge for this event which will be held at the Francis Farm in Rehoboth. This is not exactly a charity event but it is worthwhile to not that proceeds from this fair go to support the local "Carpenter Museum" . In 2010 the Folk Art Show is already promising the presence of 50 crafters. If you like smaller scale events, with a personal touch and a local beneficiary, check out what is going on in Rehoboth, MA Nov 5-6.
