Rims of Grand Canyon

Most of the Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas take you through the Hoover Dam built between Arizona and Nevada states. First time visitors to Vegas may be confused about the prices and how to visit these mentioned places.

While you take a walk around the Strip in Las Vegas, you will find several outlets displaying tour packages to Grand Canyon, local Vegas tours and so forth. However, one would be confused which place to choose to book the tour package.

Some places like Planet Hollywood and the like would offer a Grand Canyon package including a tour to the Hoover Dam. There is an outlet on the Strip called Grand Canyon tours at a discount. Here, you can find tours at the price of $93 to the Grand Canyon south rim.

It would be great if you take time to visit various places on the Strip that offer these tours. All these tours also offer a visit to the Grand Canyon by a helicopter. Walk on the Strip and find out about various bargains and then decide where to book your package.

The canyon tour by bus takes one full day, depending on the West rim tour or the South rim tour. In case you plan to visit the Grand Canyon, it would be best to plan the trip during summer. In the fall, the temperatures around 20 degrees Fahrenheit and it can get quite chilly.

The South Rim of the grand Canyon is the most beautiful and scenic to visit. Here you can see the most amazing rock formations. The north rim remains closed during winters, otherwise, you can get the view of the Colorado river among the Grand Canyon.

The tours offer lunch and breakfast, which might not be a very good option for vegetarians. There are comfort stops on the way where you can grab a pizza or a subway or a sandwich. There is a cafe at the South rim of the Canyon where you can find some snacks and refreshments.

The west rim offers a lunch buffet cooked by the hualupai Indians at the Grand Canyon. Most of the grand canyon tours include this buffet in their tour package. In case you would want to buy some souvenirs to remember the trip, there are stores at the Canyon and through the gas stations on the way too.

The sky walk in the West rim of the Grand canyon would cost an additional $30. However, the various tours include this in their price. Once you reach the Grand Canyon national park, they mention that the sky walk in the west rim is not a part of the Grand Canyon national park. Yet it is the part of the same rock formations and you can get a view of the Colorado river too.

Moreover, the West rim is just a 3 hour drive from Vegas. Hence, if you are visiting Vegas and wish to tour the Grand Canyon, the West rim would be a better option. The south rim may make you very tired as it is a five hour drive.

An added advantage to the trip to the Grand canyon is that you get to see the Hoover dam at night too. On your way to the canyon, the hoover dam can be seen in the daytime and the return trip also gives you an unforgettable view of the Hoover Dam in the lights at night.

We made a trip to the south rim and got to see the Hoover Dam both in the daylight and at night. There is a security check at the Hoover dam. Hence, bus tours ask you not to get huge baggage as it might cause a security check problem.

On the whole, a trip to Las Vegas, Hoover dam, view of the Colorado, are all a memory to be cherished for a lifetime. You would want to get a view of the canyon once more as you return. This trip makes you close to the nature and be one with the environment.

Avoid Grand Canyon West. Don't buy the marketing hype about the Helecopter rides, glass walkways, and great views of the Grand Canyon. Its mostly rude Asians pushing and shuving, Long Lines, No crowd control, high prices, bad food, Indians are not good hosts. It,s mostly a rip off / money grab. You will do better at the south rim.
