Visiting Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia

SJD
Halfmoon Bay is located on the Sunshine Coast in Beautiful British Columbia. It is located just past Sechelt, and is a beautiful Bay located along the coastline. Halfmoon Bay is a peaceful community admired by many. The directions to Halfmoon Bay are relatively simple. If you are coming from the mainland take the ferry in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver to the Langdale Terminal. You will follow Highway 101 North past Gibsons, Roberts Creek, and Sechelt. There are different roads that you can use to enter into the Halfmoon Bay community, but Redrooffs Road is the best known one.

What you do once you arrive is up to you, but one thing is certain. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of the landscape and ocean. You will see Seals playing in the ocean and Hummingbirds feeding from time to time. Deer roam the forested areas and their graceful beauty is evident.

If you are looking for a little bit of history the Halfmoon Bay Heritage General Store is located on the waterfront and contains a post office, liquor outlet, and food and snacks. There is a bakery right next door for baked goods as well.

Trout Lake is a popular spot in the summer time. Located right on Highway 101 you will see many people lounging on blow up devices or just diving into the water to cool down from the heat. Smuggler's Cove Provincial Park is another popular spot and is only a five minute drive. It is a beautiful walk, and a relatively simple walk with a hiking trail that guides you while you enjoy some amazing views of the ocean and landscape surrounding the area.

If you are looking to do a little sight-seeing a drive up to Pender Harbour is a beautiful destination. You can also access Pender Harbour by boat and will also have the opportunity to explore the different coves and bays around the area.

There are different Kayak rental companies around the area and kayaking along the coastline is another wonderful and popular way to explore the area. It is also an excellent way to see the seals playing in the area. If you are lucky you might even come along a colony of them lounging on the rocks. If you get in close enough to the shoreline, which you can often do with kayaks you will be able to see the colourful starfish that cling to the rocks and ocean floor.

If you are looking for some freshwater swimming Ruby Lake is a popular spot. It's about a 45 minute drive up the highway but the colour of the lake is a beautiful turquoise and there is a resort located at the lake if you are looking for an overnight trip. Best of all, is the freshwater.

Halfmoon Bay is the perfect destination if you're looking to get away from it all. It suits those who are interested in exploring and those who are interesting in relaxing. It has something for everyone of all ages and all interests. It is a peaceful and scenic community and the perfect spot to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
