Visiting Hot Springs, AR

There are many wonderful cities in the United States to visit and see the sights. But by far one of my favorites has to be Hot Springs, AR. Located in a beautiful mountainous region of Central Arkansas around 40 miles south of the capital city of Little Rock, it is certainly a wonderful place to visit. Whether you are alone or on vacation with the family you are sure to have a great time visiting Hot Springs, AR.

From its rugged hiking trails and beautiful natural hot springs to its bustling downtown atmosphere it makes for an incredible experience. Hot Springs offers the best of both worlds whether it be a forest or city getaway you are seeking. The area in and around Hot Springs is rich with history as well. With a wide range of eras covered from the days of explorers such as Hernando De Soto to the days of mob bosses such as Al Capone. The area was once explored by Hernando De Soto as he came west and part of the De Soto trail. During the gangster era Hot Springs was one of the hot spots of the south. During prohibition the city was filled with a staggering amount of back room speakeasies and over the top brothels. There was even a shoot out between the sheriff's department and police department in the middle of town.

The city is filled with all that is to be expected of a tourist town but with a unique hometown atmosphere. With a number of lakes and camping areas in the area as well as a variety of museums, nightclubs, and shopping centers even an amusement park for the kids, everyone is sure to find something they enjoy. The wonderful thing about Hot Springs is that there are a lot of things to do no matter what interest you. From hiking and camping to world class restaurants and lodging, they have it all. So if you feel like an adventure but do not want to completely leave behind the comforts of home Hot Springs, AR is the place for you to be.
