Just A Plain Farm is a family-owned farm market and farm that grows a wide variety of crops, including pumpkins, squash, gourds, popcorn, and native corns. This means there are great opportunities for picking your own pumpkin come the fall.
When I was a small child, hayrides were always my favorite at farm visits, and I imagine it is the same with many children. So, if you decide to go, make sure you take a ride on the hayride and see the sights from your perch atop a bale of hay. If you want to take a hayride, however, make sure to call in advance.
Children will also delight in the "Multiple Corn Mazes." There are three mazes in all, filled with tall corn stalks in the fall.
Those who love picking their own produce can also be satisfied. You can pick your own Popcorn, gourds, pumpkins and squash at Just A Plain Farm. A walk through the woods is also available.
For the adults, there are picnic tables to kick back at with some cider and donuts, while the children run through the mazes.
The farm is nice to visit in the fall, when all the colors are changing and the corn and pumpkins are ripe and fat. It is open from September 12 to October 31 every year.
The Farm store, corn maze, woodland trail, and U-pick produce are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In September, the farm is open on Sundays, too, from noon to 6 p.m. These hours change to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Sundays in October.
Make sure you come before 5 p.m., because the farm has a policy that visitors must begin an activity before 5 p.m.
And if you want to ride the hayride, call in advance. There are hayrides at various times throughout the day. You can as the farm about the hayride times on the specific day you want to visit.
For those who love the sights, smells, and sounds of a farm in the fall (but don't have a farm themselves), a visit to Just A Plain Farm will be fun.
The farm is located at 5055 Gill Rd, Carp Lake, Michigan.
