Visiting an NFL Rivalry 2009: Philadelphia vs Dallas

Eagles Fly into the Cowboys' New Home

With football season upon us it is time to gear up for the biggest rivalry in the NFL. Which teams are we talking about? The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, of course! The NFL saved the best for last with this exciting game saved for the very last regular season game of the year being played in the new Dallas Cowboy stadium on January 3, 2010.

The Dallas Cowboys play Philadelphia two times during the 2009 season but when the Eagles go to Dallas they are in for a major disadvantage with the new home field advantage. If pre-season gives us a realistic preview of the football season then Jerry Jones' Jerrytron is going to be a feat to deal with for opposing teams.

Arlington, Texas while normally a fairly warm place to visit does cool down come January and you will most likely need a warm coat during your football stay. The cowboys are sold out for the entire year but Jones has started what he is calling the "Party Pass." The party pass allows you to walk around the stadium and watch the game from the patio decks in standing room only for $29. For the die-hard Cowboys fan this is the perfect opportunity to experience the new stadium in its first year. With the cowboys stadium being brand new be prepared for high priced concessions and souvenirs. If you have to have that new jersey being offered at the stadium take the time to drive down to the Parks at Arlington mall and visit the Dallas Cowboys Pro Store. Things in the pro store tend to go on sale and will be more budget friendly.

There are many places to stay in Arlington and some of the best are just south of the stadium. The Parks at Arlington mall has many hotels on the outer ring of its parking lots and are some of the best near the stadium. All the hotels in this area are reasonably priced and offer a continental breakfast. Within this same area are many fast food and sit down restaurants. Prices will help make this trip a great one for a sports fan on a budget.

Traffic leaving the new stadium is still quite horrendous. For the best end to your great experience wait around the stadium while everyone else clears out. Take this time to take some great pictures of the stadium while it is empty. For many people this is a once in a lifetime chance and you are going to want to savor every minute of such a spectacular football game.
