Sunshine Red
While the beaches of North Carolina are the main attractions there are many things that you can do with your children on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. These are not only entertaining, but educational as well. These are fun exciting things that the whole family can enjoy together. If you are visiting the Outer Banks in North Carolina, take time to visit these places.

The North Carolina Aquarium which is located on the Roanoke Island. The aquarium is opened year round but is closed on major holidays. There are 2 days a year that you can visit for free; these are Martin Luther King Day and Veteran's day. The admission price is reasonable for everything that the aquarium has to offer. Everyday they have different activities planned and can be found on their website.

To tour the aquarium it usually takes about 2 hours, but if you want to do some of the daily planned activities there it will take longer. You can choose how long and how much you want to learn.

There are restaurants and vending machines there that you can get a drink or a snack.

Some of the animals that you can see there are snakes, alligators, loggerhead turtles, sharks, and jelly fish. They have petting tanks where you can actually pet live animals.

Flying a kite in Jockey Ridge State Park

While you are on the outer banks you want to take the kids to Jockey's ridge Park and bring a kite. This is a great place to fly a kite. Jockey's Ridge is the tallest sand dune in North Carolina.

After you have spent hours of fun flying kites, you can walk out on the 360 foot boardwalk, or walk across the sand while you are taking a nature walk. There are many different types of Wildlife that you can see in the park. There is a place there that will show you what the footprints look like in the sand so your child can go on a foot-print search for these animals. You may see the White tail deer, raccoons, rabbits and lizards.

There is also a place you can go swimming or kayaking. It's a great place to spend time and it's always nice and breezy there.

Spending time doing things that are fun for the family will make it a memorable trip for everyone. The nice thing about these two places is that online they have webcams so your children can relive the experiences all year long.
