While visiting Tampa you can take a day trip up to Tarpon Springs to walk along the Sponge Docks, visit the aquarium, shop in the quaint seaside stores, take a boat tour, and enjoy a wonderful meal. Tarpon Springs is approximately 45 minutes away.
Another great day trip would be a trip to Busch Gardens. You can purchase a day pass or multi day pass. The park has great concerts and shows that can keep everyone entertained. They have a water park located next to Busch Gardens called Adventure Island.
If you enjoy shopping then plan a stop at International Plaza Mall which is located near the airport. It is a high end mall with wonderful shops and restaurants. A short ride down to Sarasota will take you to the Outlet Malls. You are sure to find lots of bargains here.
If you decide to go to Sarasota then be sure to spend some time at Anna Maria Island Beach. The sand is soft and white just like baby powder. There are hotels, Inn's, and resorts that line the beachfront. This area is more expensive then the beaches of Clearwater and St. Pete so you might only want to spend the day and then head back up North.
Tampa is an easy drive over to Orlando and the Disney Parks. It is just over an hours drive. Since SeaWorld owns Busch Gardens, you can easily purchase a combination pass that gives you access to both parks in both cities. Orlando is full of exciting theme parks, dinner theatres, and attractions, and is sure to be fun for everyone in your family.
Tampa International Airport is serviced by all the major airlines but you also have the option of flying into Sarasota Airport or Orlando Airport and then renting a car. No matter how you decide to visit, the important thing is that you get there and that you have a great time.
