Metropolitan Museum of Art
Probably the most famous of all art galleries in the city, the Metropolitan Museum of art has featured past exhibitions of famous artists and treasures, one of the most well known being the collection of artifacts from King Tutankhamen. Admission is free to museum members and children under the age of twelve. If you are not a member, the museum asks for a recommended donation. In addition to the art works that are always on display, the Metropolitan Museum of Art also offers talks, concerts and lectures on a regular basis. Handicapped accessibility is available.
The Museum Of Modern Art (MOMA)
If you like art that is a little more modern, then this museum, founded as an educational institution in 1929, will be more to your liking. Many of the displays found here are contemporary and MOMA offers in addition to its gallery a library, archive, and conservation laboratory. It is considered an international center of research and is supported by scholarships and publications. Every age range is welcome and there are exhibits at MOMA that will appeal to all types.
