If you find you suffer from anxiety, and that anxiety seems to be related to a particular neurotic symptom, it is prudent to seek medical attention from a healthcare provider. In many cases, complications of anxiety, when associated with a neurosis and tension, can be resolved with the use of prescription medications. For many patients with anxiety, the symptoms are managed quite effectively with the use of prescription Vistaril.
If your physician has prescribed Vistaril, to manage your neurotic-induced anxiety, it is important to follow the recommended dosing guidelines. As a general rule, if your anxiety is significant enough, the physician may recommend dosing in any range from 50 to 100 milligrams, with frequency as high as four times per day. If your symptoms of anxiety are quite significant, your first dose may be administered by intramuscular injection.
As with any antipsychotic medications, especially with Vistaril, there are side effects to be expected. For most anxious patients, the side effects include complications of the central nervous system especially in those with a pre-existing central nervous system complication. In addition, the effects of the drug use on the kidneys, liver and cardiac function are also important.
Drowsiness is one of the main side effects associated with Vistaril use. Because drowsiness can be quite marked in some patients, it is not uncommon for non-compliance in use to begin soon after the drowsiness sets in. With persistence, however, your drowsiness should decrease, ultimately leading to greater compliance in use and reduced side effects.
While there are many mental health complications of concern, those that affect an adult's ability to work can be vital to health and financial welfare. For many adults, the neurotic tendencies may develop in response to stress at work which, in turn, leads to the development of atypical anxiety. If this describes your mental health complication, ask your physician about the use of Vistaril as part of your mental health treatment plan. While dosing of Vistaril is not optimal, it does provide the much-needed therapeutic benefit to those suffering from anxiety.
