B12 has long been known as a treatment for tiredness and lethargy, but it's also shown dramatic results in treating nerve related disorders because it's one of the main nutrients associated with nerve development and health.
Vitamin B12 is one of the best known treatments for pernicious anemia. The symptoms of this often deadly disease include: fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling in the limbs, feeling unsteady, chest pains and abdominal discomfort, just to name a few.
B12 plays a vital role in the health of the nervous system. A deficiency in this vitamin can lead to many of the problems listed above which can all be linked to disorders stemming from a nerve problem.
Many people have gone to the doctor complaining of not feeling well, being lethargic, having no energy, being forgetful, unable to concentrate, and having feelings of depression. Treatment with B12 reversed these symptoms in most patients in as little as two weeks with only two injections.
B12 deficiency also has adverse reactions on eyesight. It can interfere with reading or being unable to see approaching cars at a distance while driving.
Lack of B12 also leads to fertility problems or reduced fertility in many cases. Evidence shows cases of women who had no medical reason for not conceiving and were B12 deficient often conceived following B12 treatments. It's also been linked to low sperm count in men. Doctors can't explain how B12 works on fertility, but think it may be linked to anemia and the inability to absorb the nutrient.
Vegetarians are especially prone to B12 deficiency due to the avoidance of meat and animal products. Supplements are vitally important if you're a vegetarian or consume very few meat products.
B12 is also linked to a thiamine deficiency, even when thiamine levels are normal some abnormality causes a thiamine like deficiency. Thiamine is also a vital nutrient for nerve health. To optimize the use of thiamine in the body it's important to keep B12 levels high or at least in the normal range.
B12 is one of the key nutrients in building protection around the nerve fibers and spinal cord. A deficiency causes a slow deterioration that can lead to muscle weakness, spasms, numbness, and lack of coordination. This damage can often be reversed if caught early enough. Damage to the spinal cord may take longer and not be completely reversible but can greatly reduce the symptoms listed.
