Another factor in ill health is pollutants and contaminants in our environment. It's not so easy to go through our daily lives wearing a gas mask, so we must take other measures to help ensure our bodies can fight off these negative attackers.
Any stress to the body, whether it's physical injury, chemical poisoning, or an underlying ailment or disease, can cause the adrenal gland to enlarge and the thymus gland to shrink. These two glands are vital to our immune system and stress on them can cause other problems with our health.
Vitamin A has been shown to protect these glands and keep them functioning properly. A healthy immune system wards off a build up of toxins in our bodies, but if part of our immune system isn't working properly it allows chemicals to accumulate and leads to sickness. Protecting these glands so they can do their job is important.
Vitamin A has also been shown to help radiation poisoning in cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy. Many cancer patients are too sick to take their medication due to the effects of radiation treatment. Giving them higher doses of Vitamin A has been shown to help them tolerate the drugs much better than without increased amounts of the vitamin.
Vitamin A has also been called an internal gas mask because of the protection it gives the body in the defense of smog and pollutants. Vitamin A is vital to the production of epithelial's in lung tissue, which helps reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and other chemicals in our lungs. If the lungs can't regenerate epithelial's the cells can become squamous, which are precancerous cells.
Vitamin A is the number one vitamin to help fight against cancer because it works on so many bodily tissues. It is essential for good health and for keeping the body working to fight off stress related effects from the environment.
We may not have much control over the outside environment but we do have some control over the inner environment. Keeping it in optimal shape will help stave off the negative effects from the outer environment.
