In today's busy lifestyles among society, most don't get the proper nutrition needed for a healthy body. While most look toward taking a supplemental vitamin in pill form, others are looking for the more natural way of consuming their vitamin sources needed daily by looking at what foods they are supplied in. A popular one now is the B vitamin Biotin.

What is Biotin? Biotin is a B complex vitamin that helps your body metabolize fatty acids during your exercise routines, mostly aerobics. It acts as a coenzyme in the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, the breakdown of proteins to urea, and the conversion of amino acids from protein into blood sugar for energy.

Biotin has also been found to help with the growth of hair and nails and is in most cosmetic products. Some even use this to help maintain a healthy level of Blood sugar. It has even been studied to help with the transfer of carbon dioxide. A recommended daily dose of 30 to 100 MCG.

Most recognize Biotin as Vitamin B 7 or Vitamin H. Foods that are most recognized as containing sources of Biotin are; beans, breads, brewer's yeast, cauliflower, chocolate, egg yolks, fish, kidney, legumes, liver, meat, molasses, dairy products, nuts, oatmeal, oysters, peanut butter, poultry, wheat germ, and whole grains.

Benefits: helps in the synthesis of fatty acids, in energy metabolism; promotes normal health of sweat glands, bone marrow, male gonads, blood cells, nerve tissue, skin, hair.

Biotin deficiency is rare and uncommon to most. A common cause of this is due to a high consumption of raw egg white which contains high level of Avidin (is a tetrameric, which binds closely to biotin. protein produced in the oviducts of birds, reptiles and amphibians deposited in the whites of their eggs)

Symptoms of Biotin deficiency include; Hair loss, conjunctivitis, dermatitis which is a scaly rash around the eyes, nose, mouth and genital areas.

People who have Hair problems, babies with cradle cap, and people who have diabetes can benefit from Biotin supplements.

Personal Experience with the B vitamin and Biotin: During my pregnancy I had a deficiency of low blood sugar and sever mood swings. Asking my doctor what caused this, she replied a deficiency of your source of B vitamins and Biotin. I began taking a B vitamin complex and ever since I have noticed an increase of energy, high spirited attitude, and over all good healthy feeling throughout my day. I have increased my levels significantly but still to this day remain taking this wonderful natural source of energy!

Vitamin supplements can be found at your local vitamin stores such as GNC and Vitamin world, or local pharmacies and retail stores such as Rite aid, Giant Eagle, Walmart, Walgreens, Target, and anywhere most Vitamins and over the counter medicine products are supplied.
