Viva the Chef offers wonderful, age appropriate birthday parties. Kids spend an hour and a half actually cooking. Guided by a head chef and assisted by two others, children don aprons and chef hats and get to work. Birthday party themes for ages three and up include: Pizza-Zazz, Cookie Creation, Mexican Fiesta, Luau Fun, Breakfast Bash, Tea Party, and Pasta Power. Kids ages 7 and up can choose from those as well as Chinese Food, Sushi or even create their own theme. The head chef gives wonderful information about each of the ingredients the students use. The classrooms are big and clean. As part of the birthday package, the birthday boy or girl receives a souvenir chef's hat and apron. Parents are invited to watch in the classroom or outside through the two way mirror. They may also enjoy a creative sandwich and huge portion of salad or a delicious bowl of soup while they wait at the café.
They don't just do birthdays! Viva the Chef offers classes for children, adults and even a special Mommy and Me class. Classes for children occur on Monday afternoon. Each class is themed similar to that of the birthday parties. One Monday children may be making Spaghetti and Meatballs, and the next Monday, breakfast. A more extensive menu for adults is taught on Tuesday nights. Adults can choose from "Meat and Potatoes", stuffed venison tenderloin, and twice baked potatoes or from other favorites like French Gourmet, Italian Dinner, Asian Fusion, Shellfish night, or even Vivo en Vin (Cooking with Wine) Each adult class is two hours. Viva the Chef also offers once a month, a "kids night out." On a select Friday night, kids participate in a three hour cooking class, while mom and dad can go out on a "real date."
Viva the Chef also offers summer camps. Each camp runs one week for a half day. Five to eight year olds have class in the morning. Children ages nine and up have classes in the afternoon. Each camp has a different theme from pizzas around the world or desserts to Chinese food, or even a whole week of breakfast food. The variation of themes allows children to sign up for more than one week.
In addition to the regular adult cooking classes, Viva the Chef offers two more cooking experiences for adults. Adults too can have their own themed parties. What a great idea for a bridal shower, bachelor party or birthday! They also offer corporate packages. Businesses are encouraged to organize "cook-offs". These become opportunities for teams to work together for a common goal. Not only do they learn a new recipe or two, but they also leave with a sense of teamwork. Cook-offs foster team growth and cooperation, an asset that is missing in so many businesses today.
The staff at Viva the Chef is extremely helpful, and excited about what they do. They truly believe in customer service and go out of their way to accommodate the customer. They make the class not only a learning time, but also a fun time. The entire place is kept immaculately clean. If you're hungry for something fun to do, look no further than Viva the Chef located on Green Valley Rd in Vestavia. Check out their website, www.vivathechef.com for the latest classes and a complete list of their summer camps. And did I mention the food tastes great!
