"Gone with the Wind" is a classic movie portraying sadness, love, war and loneliness written by Sidney Howard and directed by George Cukor and Sam Wood. Watching the main characters of Scarlett O'Hara, played by Vivien Leigh and Rhett Butler, played by Clark Cable make the movie even more spectacular and tearfully, moving to watch. I enjoyed every minute of this movie. It is one of those movies that can be watched many times over.

What is the Story About?

"Gone with the Wind" is about love and war set in the old days in the South. Scarlett O'Hara loves Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard), but he ends up marrying Melanie Hamilton (Olivia De Havilland) and that saddens her, so she marries Ashley's brother instead. Scarlett is a selfish woman who loves to be pampered with rich things. When war breaks out her husband dies and Rhett Butler visits her each day to comfort her with lavish gifts. Scarlet slowly takes a liking to him, but he will not give in to her fancy whims and keeps her at bay. War takes over and poverty and devastation creates a tragedy in Civil War times in Atlanta. Scarlett slowly becomes less spoiled and grows to realize the harshness of the war and her surroundings, which turn her into a better woman. Scarlett and Rhett are the perfect couple and end up together.

Was "Gone with the Wind" a Success?

With great actors and actresses like Vivien Leigh and Clark Cable starring in "Gone with the Wind," the movie becomes a great story and has been a classic for many years. Scarlett thinks she is in love with Ashley, but really she is just infatuated with him. It is Rhett Butler that woes her and secretly begins to fall for her. The acting in this movie makes it successful, turning it into a true life tragedy that could have really happened in the old days of the Civil War in Atlanta. Vivien Leigh and Clark Cable gave an outstanding performance of chemistry to the movie creating it melodramatic and entertaining to watch. The movie captures love, sadness and poverty in great detail, which turns the movie into a weepy love story.
