Vlogging Part 2: Clear Concise Content

The Next Step in Successful Video Blogging

Amanda Abella
Hopefully by the time you read this article you have become addicted to filming and editing videos. If you haven't then please check out my previous article entitled Vlogging Part 1: A New Way to Blog and Get Viewers. This time around I will be focusing on the pinnacle of a video blog: content. Content of course is extremely important, especially when exhibiting your talents and promoting the products in your shop. Your content must get the point across without going overboard and you also want your video to be clear. Easier said than done right? Lucky for you I will be providing some tips on how to have great content for your video blog.

What do I blog about? If you don't know what to make a video about start with something you are passionate about. For most of you this will be your craft although it may venture on to other passions you may have. Through your passions you can let your personality shine through and be yourself. Show your viewers a new knitting technique that you learned or interview one of your crafty friends.

What if my audience can't understand me? Make sure you have good audio for your videos. If you have a handheld digital camera get out that user manual and find out where the microphone is. The same advice goes for webcams, although microphones for a webcam may not be as cleverly hidden. You always want to make sure that the microphone is close to the person who is speaking. This is especially important if you like to have music playing in the background. Remember, if people can't hear you, they won't listen.

Why does my video come out wobbly? If you have this inability to sit still for five minutes (much like myself) maintaining a steady view may be a bit of a challenge. If you are using a digital camera use your arms as your tripod by leaning it against something like a table. If necessary, invest in a webcam which always remains steady.

So what are you waiting for? Start making some videos and before you know it you will be the next internet sensation on YouTube.
