VO5 Fade Defy Elixir Colour Protect Shampoo Gave Me True Color and Baby Fine Hair

Susan Slade
As I was visiting with my family in England, and almost filled my case with presents, I didn't take shampoo, or conditioner with me. My daughter colors her hair, so I knew that I could use her products.

In America I hate VO5 shampoo, and conditioner. It does nothing for my hair, and leaves it dry, dull, and unmanageable. However, my daughter's hair always looks good, so I was interested in trying the Alberto VO5 Fade Defy Elixir with fade defy technology and UV filter Colour Protect Shampoo. It states that it is infused with 5 vital oils.

The bottle is a bright red, and the net weight is 300 ml. It is curved on the right side, and has an area on both the front, and the back, to grip the bottle. The flip top is curved too.

I washed my hair the morning before I flew to England. I traveled to the airport, had my 3 hour wait there, and then an 8 and a half hour flight. By the time I got through immigration, and customs, my son-in-law meeting me, and a 2 hour drive to my daughter's house, not only was I tired but my hair felt a mess.

I waited a couple of days before I washed it, because too much washing dries out my hair. Then when I was ready I took my hair down from the French twist, brushed it, and then got under the shower.

I wet my hair, and then squeezed a small amount of the thick, white shampoo into the palm of my hand. I then rubbed my hands together and massaged the shampoo into my hair. I added a little more water to my hair, and fell in love with the fruity fragrance. My hair had plenty of lather on it, and only needed the one application.

I then rinsed it off, and was amazed at how much lather stayed in the bathtub. I then grabbed one of my daughter's conditioners, and applied a little to my hair, and rinsed it.

I towel dried my hair a little, put some of my gel into it, and then blow dried it. Normally when I use a brush, and curl my hair under, it stays full, and bouncy. Well, it was either the water, here in England, or the shampoo, because my hair shone brightly, and was baby fine.

I then used a curling iron, which would normally give me tight curls, to backcomb. Not this time, my hair had a slight curl in it, but nothing like normal. I did tease it, and then put it into a French twist, but it stays close to my head, and didn't lift like normal.

You may think this is a bad thing, but if I was younger and wore my hair down, or in a ponytail, it would have been amazing. This is the softest my hair has been in years.

What Alberto VO5 have on the back of their bottle:

"Restore your hair's natural beauty with this indulgent VO5 Fade Defy Elixir. It contains a blend of 5 non greasy, naturally replenishing vital oils essential for healthy looking, brilliantly glossy hair every day.
Enhances colour vibrancy and adds shine.
Restores condition and softness.
Protects hair and nourishes.
Contains Avocado, Jojoba oils, apricot, almond oils, and grape seed oil."

I can honestly say that it does condition and gives softness to hair. I have now used it 3 times and had the same experience. My color has stayed true too, and that has been an added plus.

Charlotte, I hate VO5 over here, but they have come up with a great product in England. I wonder why we have the cheap nasty stuff.

Ever since my brain surgery I am unable to use color on my hair. I have a shunt in my head and the doctor advises against it in case there is seepage into the skin. Oh well, I'll go gray! cheers
