Vodka Cinco De Mayo Drinks

Vodka Goes with Everything; Even Cinco De Mayo

Vodka is my favorite liquor. I don't drink a lot of liquor; but when I do, I usually prefer to drink vodka. It mixes well with anything. The medium priced vodkas like Smirnoff and Absolute have almost always been hangover free for me unless I drank too much of them. The cheap ones are well known for giving you terrible hangovers, but as long as you don't overdo it; you should be fine.

Vodka is my favorite liquor also because it goes with everything. Like you can pretty much mix it with anything and have a great drink. It's also a good drink when you want to give a drink using another liquor some punch. Like if you have a drink that has gin in it and a few different juices; you can add vodka to make it a stronger drink without compromising the flavor of your beverage too much. Adding more gin will take away from the drink. But, adding vodka will create a symbiotic blend in flavors that will be pleasing to the palette and will make it seem like you put some effort into your drink creation.

Vodka is known historically as "the ladies' drink", or "the lunch break drink" because ladies and workers could supposedly drink it during the day and at times when they weren't supposed to be drinking and could return to work or whatever they were doing without carrying the smell of alcohol on them. I'm really not sure if this is true or not. I've never put it to the test. It might be something fun to try for Cinco de Mayo though.

Some of my favorite things to mix vodka with include Amaretto, Kahlua, Crème de Cacao and soy milk, and any juice under the sun.

If you can get your hands on Passoa Liquer; that's a unique and tasty mixer for vodka. Add some mango, orange and pineapple juice for a tasty and somewhat tropical presentation called a Tropical Sally.

Vodka mixes just fine with most typical sodas such as Coke, Sprite, Mountain Dew, root beers or just plain store brand store cola. A fun type of soda to mix with vodka is to use the natural sodas at Whole Foods and other healthy food stores. These sodas sometimes have an unexpected kick and unique refreshing flavor because they are natural. This is very appealing and gives your party drink a unique quality not found elsewhere.

An unexpected recipe that your guests will love is to blend a banana with a little lemon juice, vodka and soy milk in your favorite flavor. I call this the Banana Split. Serve chilled it. Whipped cream is optional.

So enjoy one or a few of the vodka variations above and have a Happy Cinco de Mayo!
