The evening was opened by Boston rock band Hourcast, who had a solid set of radio friendly rock built on powerful chords but it was a bit out of place with the other two bands.
However, most people seemed to enjoy the set and many flocked to the merch booth afterwards to meet the band.
The Damned Things is comprised of members from Every Time I Die, Fall Out Boy and Anthrax, which at first glance seems like a odd combination but once again they proved, as they did at their recent show in Flint, that they are the real thing.
Vocalist Keith Buckley does a great job at bringing the songs to life as the infectious energy of the rest of the band brings the whole thing together.
Their set on Saturday was full of hard hitting rock off of their debut album Ironiclast.
Set highlights included "Handbook For the Recently Deceased", "Black Heart" and "Little Darling".
The crowd really got into their performance of their first single "We've Got A Situation Here" that featured some stellar guitar work from Scott Ian.
After their set, the band also made a stop at the merch booth to meet and greet their fans.
By the time Volbeat took to the stage their was a big buzz moving through the crowd and they were more than ready to party with the band's form or thunderous rock.
The band is out promoting their latest album Beyond Heaven/Above Hell and performed a number of songs off of the album.
Anyone who has seen a Volbeat show knows that the band loves to include the crowd on every song, almost using them as another band member inviting them to chant, sing, stomp and throw their fists up.
Towards the end of their set they invited some of the crowd up on stage to perform the track "Thanks", which is off of Beyond Heaven/Above Hell and is a song they wrote for their fans.
Newer songs "The Mirror and the Ripper", "16 Dollars" and "Heaven nor Hell" played well against older songs "Radio Girl", "Sad Man's Tongue" and opener "The Human Instrument".
They closed out their show with their cover of "I Only Want To Be With You", "Pool of Booze, Booze, Booza" and "BOA".
