- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin
The Big Brothers Big Sisters program is a great program to become involved in - for just a few hours a week, hang out with a child to provide a positive influence in his or her life.
- Encompass Child Care
This child care center is always looking for people to provide a variety of volunteer work. These include working alongside the teaching staff to help with everyday activities, accompanying field trips, helping with reading and homework, office work, and light housekeeping. Donations of just about anything (baby food, clothing, diapers, toys, etc.) are accepted.
- Junior Achievement of Brown County
A program that focuses on interesting youth (grades K-12) in business and economics, you can volunteer directly in the classroom or help with office work for the program.
Health and Community
- Aging Resource Center of Brown County
Volunteer to help the homebound elderly and their families in leading independent lives. Assistance includes making home visits, shopping, accompanying to appointments, and bringing lunch to homes.
- The Altrusa House
For patients and families who need to stay overnight at the hospital during medical emergencies, volunteers help with registering guests, cleaning the rooms, bringing home-cooked meals, and companionship.
- American Red Cross
Become a volunteer instructor to teach CPR, First Aid, and Baysitter Training. Drivers are needed to transport seniors and people with disabilities - training and vehicles are provided. Disaster team volunteers are needed to assist those affected by disaster and help with community presentations. Donations of supplies are also always welcome - blankets, batteries, Gatorade and bottled water.
- Aurora Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin Hospice
To assist those with terminal illnesses, this program offers many ways to help out. Volunteer to build a friendship with patients and their families, visit patients in their homes, help with shopping and meal preparation, and more. Training is provided.
- Brown County Mental Health Center
Donate some one-on-one time with the center residents, or simply volunteer at the resident store or library.
- Humane Society and Animal Shelter
Help out with the cleaning, bathing and feeding of animals. Dog walkers are needed, as are volunteers to help with fundraising. Brand name pet food donations are also always welcome, as are leashes, cat litter, and many other pet products.
- Prevent Blindness of Northeast Wisconsin
This unique program is always looking for volunteers to screen adults for glaucoma and other eye problems. Training is, of course, provided. Bi-lingual interpreters are also wanted.
- United Way of Brown County
Volunteers are needed for office work, collecting materials, and a variety of other work.
Art and Museums
- Downtown Green Bay
Become a seasonal event volunteer and promote the city's downtown area. Also asked for is office work and those to take pictures at events.
- Green Bay Botanical Garden
Volunteer as a visitor greeter, admitting people and working in the gift shop. Light office work is also needed, along with working alongside the gardeners in the planting and maintenance of the grounds. Special events throughout the year also call for a decent number of volunteers.
- Green Bay Community Theater
There is always a demand for those willing to donate their time and energy in constructing stage sets, costumes, working backstage, and keeping things clean. Volunteer as an usher during the show, or even attend auditions yourself.
