If you are looking for volunteer opportunities in the Charlotte area, there are many to choose from. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. It is also a great example to set for your children. Look for volunteer opportunities in which your children might be able to go along. It does them good to see what a difference helping other can make.

Here is a partial list of some great places to volunteer in Charlotte:

Crisis Assistance Ministry. Crisis Assistance Ministry is a great place to volunteer in Charlotte. This non-profit agency helps people who are suffering crisis. They help provide emergency assistance with food, clothing, rent, and utilities. The ministry is always seeking volunteers to help in a various number of ways. I volunteered there several years ago as a counselor and found the work very rewarding.

Urban Ministry. The Urban Ministry is committed to helping the homeless and also committed to ending homelessness. The ministry does this through various programs and means of support such as a soup kitchen, food pantry, clothing referrals, Room at the Inn winter shelter program, Aids testing, transportation, counseling, and assistance in filing for disability and food stamps. When I worked with the homeless pregnant women, the ladies I worked with found the Urban Ministry to be a valuable resource in helping them get back on their feet.

Hands on Charlotte. Hands on Charlotte offers a multitude of volunteer opportunities in the Charlotte area. Whether you are interested in helping the homeless population, working with youth, or cleaning up the environment, you are sure to find something suitable. The great thing about Hands on Charlotte is that they have volunteer opportunities suitable for your entire family. You can actually volunteer together. This can provide a rich and meaningful learning opportunity for your children as they learn the value of giving back to the community. Whether you are interested in a long-term commitment or a single volunteer opportunity, you will find what you are looking for here.

Hospitality House. Hospitality House provides shelter to out-of-town families who are in town visiting loved ones who are in the hospital. More than just a place to stay, Hospitality House is also a source of comfort and support to those who are under the stress of having a family member in the hospital. Someone is always there with a listening ear or a hug.

These are only a few of the volunteer opportunities in Charlotte. For more opportunities, contact the United Way. Take the time to volunteer and give back to your community.
