Volunteers can commit as little as a couple of hours a week, or as much as several hours a week to the program. Muskegon's Habitat for Humanity is in need of volunteers to assist them in their endeavors to provide homeowner opportunities to low income families. Skilled laborers such as carpenters, plumbers, painters roofers and electricians are needed to help in the actual building of homes. Additionally, support volunteers are needed in areas of administration, fund raising and program coordination. This is a wonderful opportunity for cultural, religious or social groups to work together as a team of volunteers. In this capacity, drivers will use an American Red Cross vehicle to transport senior citizens to and from medical appointments such as check-ups and dialysis. Additionally, individuals with clerical skills such as word processing, bookkeeping and data entry may also utilize their talents helping out in the front or back offices.
