Volunteer Tree Planting All Across the USA

'Give Back' to Your Community, and 'get Back' Pride and New Friendships

R.C. Johnson
The Arbor Day Foundation maintains a listing of volunteer groups across the United States that take on the project of planting trees and beautifying communities in order to contribute to a better tomorrow.

According to the Arbor Day Foundation website, "Volunteers play an important part in tree planting and tree care projects in communities across the United States. They work in partnership with city officials, schools, businesses, and other citizens to transform our urban landscapes.

"Whether you are participating in planting trees with your neighborhood association or assisting with a tree pruning project city-wide, volunteering to beautify your community can be very fulfilling. These volunteers come together to learn, to act upon their convictions, and to fulfill a sense of public duty. They take away pride, ownership in their community and its welfare, and friendship.

There is a brief video you can watch on the website by clicking here.

More volunteer tree planters are always needed. If you are interested in learning about volunteer tree planting projects in your state, visit the Arbor Day Foundation website and check out the link to "Tree Planters in your State."

Besides viewing the organizations that are listed, you can also list an organization.

What is Tree City USA?

The Tree City USA ® program, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities across the United States.

Buying trees online

While you are on the Arbor Day Foundation website, you can visit the tree nursery and order trees online. Their lists are for fast growing, flowering, most popular and fruit trees. Click on store help at the bottom of the page to learn how to order and other details. Note: The size of the trees is not shown, but they are likely fairly small if price and cost for shipping is any indication.

If any of these programs appeal to you, visit the Arbor Day Foundation website and learn more about how you can become a tree planting volunteer and about other ideas for helping to beautify the community in which you live.

This is really good. People can make a lot of money really fast tree planting, and it's nice to see such a huge volunteer effort for the same thing. Love it!

I wish we could plant a tree or two - we live in an apartment complex so they won't let us :(
