There is an organization that is set up for wounded soldiers. We shouldn't forget all that they have done for our country. Veterans for America has sponsored a program called The Wounded Warrior Outreach Program. This is the voice of our wounded soldiers. Because of what war does to our soldiers, there are many veterans who have it hard trying to find a job or even live a comfortable life. The Army Community Service is looking for volunteers in the Fort Polk/Leesville, Louisiana area. There are several ways that you can volunteer your time for our military and their families. They may need you in their outreach or family assistance programs. To learn more about this organization, please click this link.
Perhaps you are a military spouse, looking for more opportunities to give to your community? If this is the case, you may want to look into becoming a volunteer at the local school. There are so many things that the teacher's need assistance with and how nice is it to be close to your children all throughout the day. If this sounds like something that you may be interested in doing, you can visit the Fort Polk School website.
Perhaps there is just not enough time to commit, but there are other ways that you want to give to your community. You can donate to your local charities. If making contributions for your local veterans and active military fellow community members is something that you can see yourself doing, here is a list of charities in the Ft. Polk area.
Volunteering in the Leesville area has never been easier. If there are people that you know who is a military veteran or perhaps there are people in your community that has a deployed spouse. Reach out to them yourself, by making dinner one night or visiting with your children one evening.
