The first step is to visit the website, which can easily be obtained by preforming a google search for the National Wildlife Federation. Once on the website, browse through volunteer programs and options until you find something that interests you. Please be realistic when making your decision. If you cannot devote adequate time to the position, consider choosing a less time consuming option.
After initially checking the website out you will need to create an account or register for the site. After successfully registering for the National Wildlife Federation website you will be able to sign up for the program of your choice.
The application is quite extensive, and be sure to fill it out completely and accurately to insure your talents are directed where they will be the most useful. Most Volunteer Programs with the National Wildlife Federation do require training, and you are required to log in your volunteer hours on the website.
Some of the volunteer programs that are currently available are quite interesting! You can speak before groups, work from your home on administrative tasks, or actively be involved in the community, educating others about global warming and its damaging effects on wildlife. Education is the first step in making positive changes.
Wildlife is very important to the planet and the balance of nature. As humans continue to expand, advance and build, we are destroying the habitat for many animals. By volunteering with the National Wildlife Federation you are doing something to help preserve wildlife for the enjoyment of generations to come.
Recently our new president Barrack Obama has called on Americans to volunteer more. In my opinion The National Wildlife Federation is a very worthy cause to support, with the gift of your time, and or a monetary donation. If you made a New Years Resolution to Volunteer more in 2009, do yourself a favor and visit the website at www.nwf.org and volunteer.
The National Wildlife Federation has over 5 million supporters in 48 states, they perform conservation work and education and advocacy for wildlife.
