Do you love children? If so, you may consider volunteering for Portland Children's Museum. You will be interacting with children. You will also be able to build exhibits and read to the children. This is good hands on training for any career involving children. Portland Art Center
If you are a lover of the arts, you may be interested in the art center to volunteer. Because there are only two regular staff members, the museum relies heavily on the volunteers that come in. They ask that you possess a genuine passion for arts, with an open personality that is flexible. You are required to have some work experience. This is not only a great way to volunteer, but it is also good for those of you who are studying art, because you have the advantage to meet artists, as well as obtain a membership (after 30 days). There are about 3,500 people who go homeless on any day, throughout the year, in the city of Portland. The community is in need of volunteers to help by donating their time and skills.
