Mission Statement
Through education and stewardship, citizens will be empowered to sustain the environment in their community.
Description
Nature Abounds needs your help in observing the "wild" in your community. As a volunteer, you observe and report what is taking place in your community, from trees and plants to weather and wildlife activity.
In as little as ten minutes, your observations help us to understand how our eco-systems are changing and helps us to adapt for the future.
What you need to do to complete this project:
1. Choose a location or route to observe, whether it be your backyard, a route you drive regularly, or an area that you play, visit, or hike in regularly
2. Record your observations and report your observations to us via mail or email.
Are you a history buff, or just have a general interest in history, and want to expand your knowledge? Then this next opportunity will be perfect for you!

The mission of the Historical & Genealogical Society of Indiana County is:
To bring together those persons interested in the history and genealogy of Indiana County.
To collect and preserve all material or elucidating all facets of the history and genealogy of Indiana County.
To encourage the study and appreciation of that history.
Description of opportunities:
Volunteers are needed to greet visitors and provide general information about the museum, Historical Society, the Clark House and research library. Training is provided.
The Society has large mailings and handles a great deal of correspondence. Clerical assistance is always much appreciated, especially at newsletter time!
Our library is extensive and gets very busy. Fortunately it is well organized and, with a little knowledge of genealogy and local history, it is quite workable. Help is especially needed on Saturdays and training is provided.
Research requests from out-of-town 'genealogists' always create a challenge to the Society. Volunteers familiar with local history and a willingness to learn our library are needed to help fulfill these requests.
Virtual volunteers provide most support by indexing various ledgers, maps, and listings and by transcribing handwritten documents. Verifiers are also important to our projects!
The society has a never-ending list of odd jobs that involve carpentry, painting and gardening. Volunteers with those skills are always needed.
Volunteers with experience working on committees, from planning programs to executing fund raising activities, are always a welcome addition.
If you are a sucker for those cute puppy dog eyes and those cute kitten ears, and love to help animals then this is the opportunity for you!

Your too much some times Jack! Just like to help out.
What a great idea for volunteering. Your community is so blessed by God to have you in it. This community and town would never, ever be the same if you were not part of that Salt and Light that comes from Christ Jesus Michelle. What a godly lady you are friend.
