Volunteers Needed to Help with Disaster in the Gulf

Calls Are Coming from Around the World with Offers of Help

As the spill from the Deepwater Horizon continues to grow and the possibility of impending doom sea life in the Gulf Coast volunteers are being sought to help with sea life rescue and other activities to aid in the recovery. If you are interested in volunteering your services here are the numbers to call and the web sites to visit. Volunteers will be trained to work with animals and assist crews as needed.

The Mobile Chamber of Commerce has published this information:

To report oiled or injured wildlife call 866-557-1401

To report oiled shoreline call 866-448-5816

Both www.mobilechamber.com and www.offshorealabama.com have the latest information on the spill and the cleanup efforts. Also you can add tweeter feeds and see the most up to date information for the Alabama Port Authority at www.offshorealabama.com site.

At present they are taking names and making list of those who wish to volunteer. But actual job assignments have not yet been given. People are being cautioned not to touch animals they may see covered in oil because there are chemicals in the crude which can be very dangerous to your health. Call the above number if you find animals in distress. Calls have been coming in from around the world with offers to help.
