The Vornado folks definitely thought about how to design this humidifier to be easy to maintain and use. The water containers are easy to carry and easy to fill and hold 2.1 gallons each, which is nice. The humidifier has three settings for volume of humidified air - low, medium and high. We use the medium setting as the high setting is a little loud to allow for sleep. It maintains about 30% humidity in our bedroom, which is where we need it most.
I would recommend spending the money to purchase this humidifier, it works great, is easy to fill and although built light (some call it flimsy), it is a simple design intended to make it simple on the end user.
My only complaint is the awkwardness of placing the filled water containers into the humidifier. Due to their unique design (its almost impossible to spill the water from the container while replacing the filled containers back into the machine), it does require quite a bit of space in order to allow the containers to be placed back in when full.
The gurgling of the water, as it refills the vat in the bottom is much less noisy than the Hunter I just replaced. Depending on the volume of the air setting, this gurgling is less or more frequent. I find the noise of the air moving and the gurgling noise peaceful, as it is almost like pumping white noise into your room, to allow for a quieter night's sleep.
A good humidifier for those that need it. Would like to have another one for my son's room.
I have accidentally figured out how to stop the glug glug glug noise of water filling the humidifier chamber from the bottles! When refilling the bottles, before placing the filled bottles back into the humidifier, pour some of the water into the bottom of the humidifier (I did this as I emptied an almost empty water bottle out before refilling, probably about 1/2 inch of water more in the bottom of the humidifier...) This makes the water level higher and the machine will maintain this water level remarkably. And as the reservoir refills when it needs to, since the water has less distance to travel, the glug glug glug noise is greatly reduced!
I sorta like the glug glug glug noise, but my wife says it bothers her, so I had to come up with a plan in order to keep the humidifier running.
Let me know if this works for you! Thanks for reading!
