Vote Any of the Above

Voter Inaction Sends a Message: The Wrong One

Admiral Coeyman
There is a movement on the Internet to get voters to reject both of the candidates in the upcoming presidential election in these United States of America. I have read what the supporters have to say and I do agree with their disdain for both of the major candidates. It is not my intent to get voters to support any specific candidate. Our goal should be to get a better quality of candidate on every 'ticket' in every election. In my view, voting for none of the above is another way of sitting out an election.

I am no fan of voting for 'none of the above.' Everybody in politics knows that we will be willing to sit out this and every future election; so what is to be gained? Does silence really send a message to deaf ears? The 'none of the above' group would represent voters who feel that Castro is too moderate through voters who think that it was a mistake for the colonies to rebel against England. That would not send much of a message even if there was anybody to hear it.

But that is not why I am really writing this. I am writing this to advise the people who will be voting for McCain to be honest enough to pull the lever for Obama. There was a time when McCain's positions would have made him too 'moderate' to run as a Democrat. We voted for Mussolini because he wasn't Hitler. Now you say that we must vote for McCain because he is not Obama.

Why wait until the choice is Obama and Stalin? Just vote for Obama now and get it over with. You are sending a clear message to our taskmasters that we will vote for whomever we are given. Somebody who holds every one of Obama's views will eventually run as a Republican. Then, you will be advising us to hold our noses and again vote for the lesser of two evils.

My view has always been that we should be voting for third party candidates. It does not even mater which one, to me. Show our king makers which demographics they are failing to capture by voting your conscience. That sends a message. Nobody doubts that we are willing to withdraw our votes from the tally.

The heart of the American Church has always been that we would have 'no king but Christ.' American denominations never turned on one another because we held the European 'Separation of Church and State' in contempt enough to demand that our leaders remained under the same principles that guided our lives. Christ never set the body at war with itself. Conflicts came when we abandoned our principles and followed the ways of the men who wanted to make themselves rulers over the body. When the conflict comes, does the king worship God or does God worship the king?

So this is where we are again. We have taken our eyes off of "Nature's God" and are looking to settle for the least evil of two future tyrants. The United States of America has always been a fluke because we stood up for what the rest of the world threw down. It is time that we stopped giving in to the forces that have been trying to subjugate us since the spirit of Independence set foot on this continent. If you are going to settle for McCain, then get used to voting for Obama.
