Vote for God in the 2008 Presidential Election

With all of the hype and controversy surrounding the 2008 presidential candidates, it's no wonder people are confused about who to cast their vote for come November. Listen to the speeches and each candidate's platform, but look to God before casting your vote.

The 2008 Presidential election is an amazing race. An African-American and a woman ran for the democratic nomination for president. On the republican side we had a candidate who was a prisoner of war and one who ran based on his godly faith.

In the 2008 Presidential election we have heard plenty of confusing information. For instance, Barack Obama has been criticized for the words of his pastor. John McCain has been under scrutiny for his wife's business dealings.

Then, there are the choices for vice-president in the 2008 presidential election. Sarah Palin is a relative newcomer who is under investigation in her home state of Alaska. Joe Biden has experience on his side with an extensive political career but he also has a reputation for voicing his opinion with reckless abandon.

The one to vote for is God. But, God is not on the presidential ballot. His name may not physically be on the ballot, but God's name is written on our hearts and in our minds guiding our choices.

God is a part of everything and everyone on this planet. He is not the detached God who cares nothing about us or our problems. God cares about how we live and even who our next president will be.

For the believer, God is a part of every decision that we make. He desires to be involved so we will make the right decisions which include how we cast our vote in the presidential election. Exercising our free will means choosing to trust God to take care of this country.

No one else could sort out the 2008 presidential election besides God. Our questions about candidates have given way to deep fears. If McCain is elected president, will our troops come home from Iraq? If Barack Obama is elected president, will he be assassinated before he can perform his duties? Do we trust either vice-president to lead America if the President dies?

God's leading allows us to cut through all of the double speak and speculation to find the truth of His purpose. What does God want from America? His Word is clear: If we honor and worship God, He will change the lives of those around us. When we pray for the candidates, God listens.

Trust the God who loves us more than life itself. When you cast our vote in November for the next President of the United States, carry God in that ballot booth and let Him guide your hand.

I wish I could vote for God. He'd be the only candidate not lying and could actually do what He promised.

Excellent wisdom. There's so much we can't see from our limited perspectives.

What do we do about all the people telling us what God wants us to do? Doesn't God intend for us to use our brains? I trust intelligent, capable people who behave with honor. I excuse some mistakes, but don't excuse constant lies. God's name has been abused in the American political process for too long. I honestly think if Jesus (my Savior, not everyone's) gave me an example of leadership it was of gentleness and steadfastness. He also had a strong mother who was a gentle soul. But, neither Jesus nor Mary had anything to do with a kingdom on earth. Too many people in America right now think we can build an ideological kingdom here - and that is the greatest hubris of all.
