The Texas Longhorns have a proud history in their football team. Although their number one rival, Oklahoma, has more national titles and conference titles Texas still leads the all time series in their historic rivalry. In recent years Texas has been a centerpiece in the National Championship picture year after year including an upset in the title game over USC in 2006.

Their rivalry with Michigan, known as the Big Game, is widely known as the biggest in football. They have stayed relevant for some time and have won a title as recent as 2002.
