VotefortheWorst Focuses on New Idol Contestant
VoteFortheWorst.com is a website that has been getting a lot of attention lately, especially from the Howard Stern radio show that also been supporting whoever VoteFortheWorst.com deems is the worst. Fans who visit VoteFortheWorst.com all agree to purposely vote for the worst contestant remaining on American Idol in order to throw a wrench into the contest. The people who run the site decide who the worst in their opinion is.
The site has gotten a lot of attention this season in particular for its support of Antonella Barba and Sanjaya Malakar. The first contestant VoteFortheWorst.com supported was Sundance Head but he was quickly eliminated. Next Antonella Barba was getting a lot of support from VoteFortheWorst.com early on. The good looking, marginally good singer, had a lot of controversy surrounding her due to nude pictures of her being leaked on the internet.
Once Antonella Barba was finally eliminated VoteFortheWorst.com turned their attention to Sanjaya Malakar. Sanjaya was clearly the worst singer remaining for several weeks now but he kept hanging around. Some people credited VoteFortheWorst.com and Howard Stern's support for Sanjaya as the reason he stuck around for so long. Sanjaya Malakar also has the dubious honor of being the longest running supported contestant in VoteFortheWorst.com history.
Finally Sanjaya Malakar has been eliminated and VoteFortheWorst.com thinks the worst of the remaining six singers is Phil Stacey. It will be interesting to see if the VoteFortheWorst.com fans will help Phil Stacey stick around for a few weeks longer because Phil Stacey is coming off what many people think is his best performance so far and Phil Stacey was not even in the bottom 3 this week.
The very first person chosen in VoteFortheWorst.com history was back in 2004 when they selected Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson as the worst. They eventually saw improvement in Jennifer Hudson though and didn't choose her again the rest of the season.
VoteFortheWorst.com really began to get attention during Season 4 of American Idol when the contestant they were supporting, Scott Savol, outlasted Constantine Maroulis.
Many American Idol contestants have been chosen by VoteFortheWorst.com as the worst remaining contestant including Lisa Wilson, Jon Peter Lewis, Matt Rogers, John Stevens, Mikalah Gordon, Kevin Covais and Kellie Picker. Even American Idol Winners from Season 4 and Season 5, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks, were deemed the worst remaining by VoteFortheWorst.com at one point, but they were both very late in the competition.

The show is not the same without Sanjaya. I don't think Phil is a very average singer, really bad at times, but no one can ever replace Sanjaya.
