Voter Apathy?

Elyssa Durant
Gee-with all the bitching we do about voter apathy, low voter turnout, and then about the people who are ultimately elected by the few who do vote; the media seems to be making an awful big deal about the upcoming primary elections.

The deadline to register for the upcoming primary is tomorrow, January 7, 2008.

Yet, in the midst of it all, I just received a letter dated January 2, 2008 along with approximately 370,000[1] people that my personal information (including my social security number) has been compromised due to a break-in at the Davidson County Election Commission on Christmas Eve in Nashville, Tennessee.

GOOD GOING!!!

I cannot be the only one who is wondering how this will affect voter registration, turnout, or "apathy" in the future.

Ironically, as an additional side note, the state of Tennessee just happened to pass new, "progressive" legislation regarding identity theft the very same day the "warning" letter was mailed. It is almost too much of a coincidence, don't you think?

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like, but I am still trying to wrap my head around this one!

[1] Coincidentally-370,000 is roughly the same number of TennCare recipients who were dropped from the rolls (disenrolled due to reform) just a few years ago.

The thread I saw in the article didn't necessarily reflect the second comment by AR without getting into all the secondary(is that the right word) "arguments" supporting it. At the end of the day ad hominem attacks are the preferred web method of going after a thread of a truth. Truth is a lonely hominem waiting for a genuine, defeatable assault. Sophistry lives!

Hillary and Barack were among those who co-authored the Voter Fraud legislation, so I do not think she is in on the Bush/Cheney voter fraud ticket. I can not safely assume it was a Republican power that did this to you. It could be a complete unknown, like those that broke into Obama's campaign headquarters stealing stuff. It is sad that our government can not afford to have theft of our personal info safeguarded with proper internet security. Wish you well in that no harm is done to you due to this.

Oh lord, looks like the election fraud is starting early this year. A little thing like this (no I do not mean little as in damage to you and others affected) is bound to scare off a lot of people who have been coming out in hopes of making a difference in our future. Perhaps our country is doomed already. I no longer contact the White House and hated people asking me to sign petitions for good causes. Call me paranoid but I am terrified of my government. Obama's hope message and that, we, the people could take back our government, rid it of corruption caused me to register to vote again.
