The restaurant itself, while clean, it's really not anything to boost about. It's modest and small but comfortable. There is a small dining area with about ten or so booths for dining in, as well as a small area for patrons to wait for their take-out orders to be ready to take home. V&S' staff is busy so there aren't many opportunities for sharing pleasantries, however, they are polite and efficient.
The food is the reason one would visit this pizzeria. The pizza, to start, is by far the best pie in the area. The crust is perfect: thin, crisp and flavorful. Their sauce and cheese are great quality and they bake their pizzas to the utmost perfection resulting in a mouthwatering thin-crusted pizza. Toppings include onions, anchovies, spinach, pepperoni, sausage (both sliced or ground) sweet pepper and mushroom to name a few. Pizzas are available in both traditional thin-crust as well as thick Sicilian and pan-crust varieties. They also offer an extensive selection of gourmet pizzas such as their Hawaiian pizza, topped with pineapple and ham as well as Sal's 25th pizza, a delicious, unique pie topped with diced fresh tomatoes, black olives, sun-dried tomatoes garlic, ham and chopped red onion.
They also offer a wide menu of lunch or dinner selections. For lunch, try one of V&S' triple decker club sandwiches, each served with French fries, bacon, lettuce and tomato. The Ham & Cheese or Chicken Salad club sandwich is filling and perfect for sharing at lunchtime. Another great lunch option would be their veggie burger; it's so delicious! Again, served with fries this lunch is one that keeps you full until dinner.
V&S' cheesesteaks are equally delicious and exciting. The V&S Special Steak is topped with green peppers, mushrooms, onion and pepperoni. The Chicken Cheesesteak ala V&S is the best! It's topped with roasted peppers, artichoke hearts and provolone them baked until it's crisp and golden brown.
Their dinner selections aren't as vast but the selections are each wonderful. Each entrée is served with salad, bread and butter and you may select from a wide variety of pastas including spaghetti, linguini, angel hair or rigatoni topped with the sauce of your choice, whether it be Garlic & Oil, Marinara, Pesto or Alfredo. Baked entrées include pasta primavera, which is your choice of pasta served with fresh, delicious vegetables sautéed in garlic and oil. Their Stuffed Rigatoni is also a great choice; it's stuffed with ricotta cheese and topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella then baked until bubbly and browned.
The next time you're passing by, be sure to stop in and se for yourself while this fabulous pizzeria has been in the same location for over 35 years. V&S is a hit!
