The Virtual Stock Exchange (VSTEX) website was offline yesterday for at least a better part of an hour. Worried investors were happy to learn that it was nothing more than regional network or website technical difficulties.
"Earlier today we experienced an interruption of the web services, with the web server not able to display pages or serving uncomplete pages," Samantha Goldflake, VSTEX Communication and Public Relations Director stated in the official press release, "This was fixed in a short deal of time, still it was enough to be noticed and to have someone compare us to the WSE, World Stock Exchange. We're surprised to see our and the WSE name in the same article, expecially since August 2007 we've been renowned for the continuity of our services and for the fact that we never lost a single bit of data."
Unlike the WSE, VSTEX only registered the generic "Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage" error message. WSE displays "Status: 500 Internal Server Error".
The WSE collapsed on November 10, 2008, as had been proceeded by first a trading halt on that day, at least 4 delistments in a matter of hours, and then finally website going offline.
Most recently, VSTEX and the Ancapistan Capital Exchange (ACE) have been in an ongoing feud relating to the fallout of the Parks Fireworks delistment at VSTEX and relisting at ACE. Communications Director for the VSTEX Samantha Goldflake and ACE CEO Intlibber Brautigan have engaged in a high-profile tit-for-tat battle, which has cooled in the last week.
The VSTEX has recently announced new programs to engage investors with the ambition to increase volumes and trader activity.
